Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 28/03/2010
While Bad Company 2's "Map Pack" went live almost without a hitch, Modern Warfare 2's REAL map pack went live late Tuesday night with a range of problems. The Stimulus Package download wouldn't start, matchmaking was broken and even most Xbox LIVE services went down at the same time. Lucky most of us were fast asleep, so it didn't affect anyone here. I guess if you bought MW2 on the PS3 you didn't have these issues either, but that brings other issues of it's own, like waiting a month!
Dying for some more Game Room titles? I'm sorry, but we all have to wait until the end of April to get some "new" releases, which means you'll have to keep playing Lunar Lander for just a little while longer. You've waited thirty years to play something else; I'm sure you can wait another thirty days.
You know what? Maybe this week's Game Room update is just servers that actually stay running.
Virtual-On is virtually-on sale this week, but to barely any promotion. We know however that there are going to be a few titles on sale starting tomorrow night so bookmark this page so you don't miss out! Some of the games to be proposed on sale are Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play and Defense Grid: The Awakening, however I'd recommend you to buy Defense Grid right now for full price because it's that damn good.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 26/03/10; Week Of Nothing
Hello and welcome to Playstation Update for March 26th, 2010. This week on the PSN? Slim pickings.
Seriously though, it's a very small update this week. When the best game on offer is a PSP Pinball game, you know you're in trouble. Still, it could be worse - the other option is a dreadful AFL game (also for the PSP). DLC wise, there's some free stuff for MAG, and plenty of stuff from the collectors edition of one of the best games of last year - Batman: Arkham Aslyum. LittleBigPlanet gets a big update with five Sonic The Hedgehog costumes, adding yet another game where Sonic cameos and is yet better than the last few Sonic games. Then there's the standard Rock Band and Guitar Hero DLC, with a slight twist! There's a free Rock Band song up for download.
Honestly though, it's kind of a hard week to make a solid recommendation. I'd go with Pinball Heroes, if only because good pinball video games are hard to come by nowadays. Otherwise, save your monies...or go pick up a PS1 Classic...or Burnout Paradise.
That's it for this week's Playstation Update. As always, here's a complete list of everything on the Australian Playstation Store, adapted from the always awesome PSN Stores listings. Check back next with to see the latest and greatest to hit the Playstation Store.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Do You Suffer for Mapathy?
Since most of the L3 crew did not play much MW2 with me they would not really appreciate the new map pack in-store coming for MW2 all glitches aside especially in a game where you had a full list of friends and local lag free servers MW2 was a game that I got addicted to more than any other game I have been addicted to in the last 10 years.
SO when I saw the below ad it really hit home with me, this glitch free ad campaign really makes me wanna forget the glitch kiddy's I had to endure for 4 months of my life and put down BF: BC2 and go back to my precious and spend the recommended rip off price of 1200 MS pts and buy this so called stimulus package.

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 21/03/2010
This week's Deal Of The Week is a Megaton. Make your Microsoft Points fall out of your money vault with Fallout 3 DLC going back on sale this week. Your game would be a lot more S.P.E.C.I.A.L. with five chunks of new content, and it will only cost half as many bottle caps! You must admit, V.A.T.S. a really Rad deal. You'd be a G.O.A.T. not to give in! It'll cost you less than tenpennys! It's practically free, dog. OWWWWW!
I'm really sorry about that. Let's move on.
You're not getting any Xbox LIVE Arcade games this week, but if you like real arcade games you're gonna love what's out now. Thanks to the launch of Game Room, we have a nice long list of games to potentially call your own. But enough of stuff that costs money. How 'bout something for free? If you hit THIS link right now you'll get yourself a free Bing search engine shirt for your avatar! Cool?... well it's free anyway, so it doesn't matter. That isn't all for the freebies, because the fine folks at Harmonix are hooking you up with a free Rock Band track.
Of course, if you want the good stuff you've got to pay for it.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Nintendo Mistakenly Reveal New DS; Joins the 3D Revolution
Despite its seemingly never ending success, Nintendo haven't exactly been subtle about their plans for the successor to the DS - with all sorts of rumours and even strong confirmations about the device hitting almost every other week. Now, thanks to the Twitter of former 1UP staffer Mark McDonald (and Nintendo quickly clarifying), we now have some major details on the new handheld.
For starters, it's known as the Nintendo 3DS - although that's a temporary name. The idea is that it'll be a handheld console wherein games can be played and have 3D effects shown, but without the need of 3D glasses or any other specific hardware. It'll be fully compatible with all existing DS and DSi Software - the latter of which means you could assume that it'll also have a camera somewhere in the system. Finally, we have a date...or at least a release window. Nintendo want to get this thing about before the end of their fiscal year, which ends in March 2011.
Nintendo have promised more details on June 15 - which is when E3 is taking place. So more than likely we'll get a glimpse of what this thing looks like and what it can do.

Michael Atkinson Quits Front Bench Following SA Election
It's amazing what can happen in 12 hours. From about 9pm last night, it was confirmed that not only had the much maligned Labor government remained in power in South Australia (though the Liberals had come close), but friend to gamers everywhere and SA Attorney General Michael Atkinson hadn't lost his seat of Croydon. 12 hours later (via Adelaide Now), it had been confirmed that Michael Atkinson has quit the front bench - thereby leaving the position of Attorney General open to someone new.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 14/03/2010
Crackdown 2 is coming to Australia on July 8. The sequel features up to 16 player online and 4 player co-op. Another game you can also play with friends but in some cases not party chat with them is Modern Warfare 2. If you like being stimulated, Infinity Ward is gonna turn you on with The "Stimulus Package". Three new maps and two COD4 maps will enter your box digitally at the end of the month.
Xbox Originals' Fable and Max Payne 2 have received discounts this week, and in the US Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is also on the cheap. Fancy that, Microsoft selected titles which have no online play. I wonder why?

Need for Speed World
Joystiq Preview of Need for Speed World
Wow. This is looking quite good, and the best thing about it.....its an EA 'freemium' MMO. Thats right boys and girls, this MMO is free to play; while it includes options to purchase your way through the game with things such as Rental Cars and Upgrades etc...otherwise if you want to keep your wallet closed, you can always grind through the game.
Im really liking the things EA are doing at the moment, supporting new franchises, not screwing people out of their money but adding value with Day One free DLC for buying new and now developing a Free to Play MMO involving one of its most beloved Franchises...
If NFS World comes off and creates a massive solid user base, then as Joystiq says, they may never need to release another NFS game again....because the update potential of the game is endless, with Retail Expansions, more cars and more things to buy.
Couple this with The Old Republic....and well...the future is looking bright for EA, and my wallet is firmly in their camp at the moment.

Playstation Network Store Update 12/03/10
Hello, and welcome to Playstation Update for the 12th of March, 2010. This week sees the 8-Bit return of Mega Man, a REvival of sorts, Halfbrick's latest mini's effort and much more. So put down your Yakuza 3's or Final Fantasy XIII's, it's update time!
So yeah, this week isn't exactly as packing as the last couple of weeks. In terms of games, the lone PSN title this week is Mega Man 10. While there isn't a demo at the moment, there doesn't need to be - it's Megaman. You know exactly how good this is, let alone if you'd want it or not. And in case you're wondering - yes, there is an easier difficulty in this one. But aside from that, we get Halfbrick's Rocket Racing as a PSN mini this week. Given the history of quality stuff that Halfbrick's been putting out, Rocket Racing looks to be yet another worthy purchase. I mean, it's either that, or Ice Road Truckers. And hey, if you hadn't already played/picked the game out yet - the demo for RE5's been re-released. Seems like nothing had changed, so if you've already played it, there's no need.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 07/03/2010
This week brings the worldwide release of Final Fantasy XIII for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Will the 360 version and it's lower res, disc swaps and lower bitrate videos still hold up in sales? Personally I think not, but only time will tell. If you want to justify that purchase you'll be happy to know the 360 version features a more stable frame rate, some better textures and some redeem codes for avatar items.
Xbox LIVE Arcade's Block Party promotion continues this week with Scrap Metal, a top down all in one arcade racing game.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Network Store Update 05/03/10
Hello, and welcome to Playstation Update for March 5th, 2010. This week sees the release of the demo for Explosion Fest 2010, otherwise known as Just Cause 2, a new bunch of special offers and lots of DLC to get. So yeah? Fun week for us PS3 owners hey? Not only is today the 10th anniversary of the PS2's original Japanese launch (worthy of its own feature, me thinks), but there was also this little glitch that caused some minor problems. It was some random 800-something error, maybe you heard of it? Anyway, this week isn't exactly as gigantic as last week. This weeks lone PSN title is the release of the Vandal Hearts: Flame of Judgement, the latest in the somewhat popular strategy RPG that began life as a PS1 title. If you're not after something as niche though, there are a couple of demos in the form of Just Cause 2 and Moto GP 09/10 - catering for everyone with a love of blowing shit up and riding at precarious speeds........Read more and Discuss Here......

Infinity Ward being reshuffled by Activision...perhaps.
So apparently a big group of non-uniformed bouncer type dudes showed up at the Infinity Ward offices and refused to go into details about why they were there when asked by IW Staffers..
Then the two studio heads were sent off to a meeting with Activision, and that was where the original story ended, with no other new information, I personally thought this was all a beat up by Acti/IW for a new IP or something...but apparently its much more serious.
Joystiq reports of an SEC filing on Monday by Activision:
Quote: "Apparently Activision filed a Form 10-K with the SEC on Monday, which is basically an overview of the company's financial condition, and includes any information that could possibly affect that condition. This filing states "In November 2009, the Company released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a game developed by one of the Company's wholly-owned studios, Infinity Ward. As noted above, Modern Warfare 2 was the best selling console title in the U.S. and Europe in 2009. Consistent with past practice, the Company intends to release a Call of Duty game in 2010 developed by another wholly-owned studio. The Company is concluding an internal human resources inquiry into breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward. This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation. At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company".......Read more and Discuss Here......

Warner Bros Accquire Majority Stake In Rocksteady
Last years Batman: Arkham Aslyum did more than just release a good Batman game onto the market since 1994, they also brought a larger awareness to the game's developer - Rocksteady Studios, to which Arkaham was only their second game. Not too bad for a company that formed in 2004. Why bring this up? Because according to Games Industry.biz (via NeoGAF) the game division of Warner Bros have acquired the majority stake in the developer, where Eidos previously held the majority stake.
Speaking on the move is Kevin Tsujihara - the president of Warner Bros Home Entertainment Group: "Rocksteady demonstrated its professionalism and extraordinary development abilities with Batman: Arkham Asylum. This arrangement is a great strategic fit and we are very pleased to solidify our relationship with this talented development team."
The move makes sense - since Warner Bros are publishing the sequel to Arkham Aslyum, why not pick up the developer as well? But it does more than just ensure that Rocksteady are handling the Arkham sequel, as according to game designer and co-founder of the studio, Sefton Hill, "The Rocksteady team is very much looking forward to creating more great games based on widely recognised Warner Bros. brands like Batman."
Dare I say it, but Warner Bros are definitely looking like a game publisher to watch. This only helps that.

Ubisoft Digital Rights Management is.....insanity.
Ubisoft have gone insane. Their latest DRM, which comes with Assassins Creed II is particualrly "unsavoury", as Kotaky put it:
Quote: If you get disconnected while playing, you’re booted out of the game,” PC Gamer’s Tom Francis writes. “All your progress since the last checkpoint or savegame is lost, and your only options are to quit to Windows or wait until you’re reconnected.” And if you have a rock solid, up 24/7 connection? There’s still potential bad news, as “any time Ubisoft’s ‘Master servers’ are down for any reason, everyone playing a current Ubisoft game is kicked out of it and loses their progress”.
That is some nasty s**t right there. So, even though you paid $80 or $90 for your PC Game, Ubisoft doesnt trust you. No, they require you to be on the Internet at all times when you play your Ubisoft game so it can check with the Master Servers whether your legit copy is legit or not.......Read More & Discuss Here......

Hot on the heels of the $1 Million NSMB Piracy case, Nintendo have won a $500,000 suit against RSJ. IT Solutions, who were a local distributor of the infamous R4 Carts. Along with having to pay Nintendo the money they must also immediately cease selling the popular cart and "relinquish all remaining stock and promotional material" associated with them. Saints Row 3 and Red Faction at E3
THQ's CEO has stated that both Saints Row 3 and Red Faction will be showing at E3 this year, along with Homefront and the Warhammer 40k MMO.
Quote: "I think we're going to blow people away at E3," Farrell said. "You'll be seeing Saints Row 3. You'll be seeing the next Red Faction. You'll be seeing more of Homefront. We've been talking about it, but we'll actually show some of our Warhammer 40k MMO, and I think people are going to go, 'Oh my God. They've got their stuff together.'" And Saints Row 3 will evidently cause some to remark, "This is not your father's THQ."
Warhammer 40k MMO? Okay that colours me interested, but Saints Row and Red Faction are probably THQ's two biggest franchises at the moment...since RFG seems to have been a hit around here and Saints Row 2, despite its bugs, being insanely better than GTA IV....so it will be interesting to see where they take the franchise. Since its been previously remarked that SR3 will be a big departure from the two previous games.

Darksiders Demo Announced; Hits Feb. 24th on XBL and PSN
You might not know it, but we here at Level 3 really do seem to dig Darksiders. What, with positive endorsements from members of our web team, a glowing review on the show, and some good discussion on it. Sure, it's been out for a month, but if you're still looking for an excuse to try it, we've just learnt of the best solution. Our friends at THQ have let us know that there will be a demo for the game hitting PSN and Xbox Live on the 24th of February!
Now, normally this wouldn't need too much of a case, but the details for the demo aren't exactly standard fare. The demo will be the entire Twilight Cathedral area of the game - effectively the first major 'dungeon' of the game. And it's not a little bit of it either - the demo sees you play through the entire area, culminating in a boss fight against gigantic bat queen Tiamat. THQ have estimated that it'll take around 90 minutes to clear this area, and it'll be worth all 1.4GB of it too.....Read More & Discuss Here....

Dragon Age: Origins Awakning: Download Only on PS3 in Europe
Straight from the Bioware Horses mouth and Joystiq, the coming Expansion Pack for Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins, entitles Awakening, will be download only due to restrictions from Sony in Europe, and subsequently PAL Territories.

So yeah, I really have no idea why Sony would have such a retarded policy.....dont you want the products on the PS3 to be able to reach as many people as possible? I can understand this coming from Microsoft...as they would just make it a Gold Member Only offer in an effort to drum up some more subscription money from people, but on a network thats free?
I've never been able to understand Sony's reasoning in anything they do...

While the next big slice of Halo gaming is still a little whiles away, our friends at Madman have revealed to us some big news regarding the anthology of animated Halo stories, Halo Legends. For starters, they're the ones distributing the DVD and Blu-Ray set, which'll be released down here on March 3rd - further cementing March as one of the biggest months for anything gaming related. The DVD edition will be released as a 2-Disc set, which will contain audio commentaries, a making of the anthology, and a documentary explaining just how big Halo has become since its humble beginnings as an Xbox launch title. The Blu-Ray edition will contain the same extras, but will also contain a feature known as "Halo - The Story So Far", which is a summary of all the Halo games, all the way up to the concluding events of Halo 3. It'll also be the closest you'll see Halo on anything Sony related. The DVD set has a Suggested Retail price of $34.95, while the Blu-Ray set will has a SRP of $44.95.
As well as that, Madman are looking to do some very interesting things regarding the release of the anthology, and we here at Level 3 may be involved in some of it. We'll keep you posted for further details. We'd post a trailer, but due to some problems with YouTube, we can't. Check back later when we should hopefully have one online. ....Read More & Discuss Here....

Sega cites tweaks and release position for Alpha Protocol delay
Joystiq have a Sega assistant producer saying that the reason Obsidian's new IP Alpha Protocol was pushed from October last year to Summer 2010 was because
Quote:He added that there's been some "tweaks in lighting here and there," and the inventory screen has been revamped a bit, but in general the team has been focused on "bringing the whole quality level up." The post's author also notes that the game is set for a "Summer 2010"
So I'm guessing that they really wanted to avoid the lead up to Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed II, also skipping the Jan - Mar Insanity and slotting Alpha Protocol in an empty period where it could have a bigger share of the limelight and give them enough time to drum up interest....... High Voltage Software Grind Their Way To PS3, Wii, PC and Xbox 360
Developer High Voltage Software have been a quiet bunch as of late. If you recall, these were the guys who partnered up with Sega to deliver a bunch of hardcore games to the Wii – the first of which was the somewhat underwhelming “The Conduit”, as well as delivering a lot of well received Wiiware titles. The latest bit of news from these guys though? Not so Wii-focused. In an interview with IGN , the company revealed that their upcoming horror themed first person shooter, the Grinder, will be hitting the PS3, PC and 360, as well as the Wii, in time for Halloween 2011.
The reason? “Bringing our third internal IP to all the current-generation systems allows us to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers”, is the quote from HVS chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger. They also explain that the reason why the game is taking so long to come out is because they’ve got a lot planned for it – such as DLC, support for the Sony Arc Controller, Microsoft Natal Controller and more. Definitely looks like a game to check out, and HVS are a studio worth looking at. Expect to see more at GDC.

Microsoft discounts the 120GB HDD in Europe
So MS is discounting the 120GB HDD in Europe, this is coming off the back of the rumor that there is a 250GB HDD set to launch in Japan sometime.
Though, I think its safe to say that the 250GB will be replacing the 120GB....since this is exactly what happened with the Pro system, it was Discounted and then another piece of information (the Elite box, sans Pro on the list of consoles) came to light.
So what do you think 250GB HDD on the way? Will you fork out for one?

First Fallout New Vegas Footage & Release Date Revealed
It’s been a long while since we’ve heard anything regarding the latest addition to the Fallout series – New Vegas, to be developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Well, if you’re one of those people (trying to resist the obvious Vault Dweller reference here), still hankering for some more Fallout – good news! The first teaser has been released, and you can check that out below!
Definitely seems interesting, if not being a complete remake of the Fallout 3 teaser trailer. But as well as that, Bethesda have given out a date – all three versions (PC/360/PS3) will be hitting in Fall of 2010. Great news to hear, and should be a good year for Obsidian if they can release both New Vegas, as well as the Sega-published spy RPG Alpha Protocol
Other info (thanks to our resident Vault Dweller CloneTrooper, via Game Banshee ) that we know so far is that the game is being built on the GECK toolset, which would explain why it’s not taking all that long to make, and that famed design Chris Avellone is having a heavy part in the project. Great thing to, as while he’s also worked on Fallout 2, he’s had a heavy part in some of the best Western RPGs of the last 20 years, such as Planescape Torment, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II(it’s better than you think!) and more. So yeah, get excited guys.

MTV to release The Who’s Superbowl XLIV performance as Rock Band DLC
While MTV might think that Australian’s don’t like Rock Band, that doesn’t stop us from posting some rather interesting news regarding upcoming DLC. In somewhat of a massive coup (via Kotaku), MTV and Harmonix have convinced the Who, who’ll be performing during the Superbowl Half Time Show this weekend, to record their set early, and will upload the playable version not too long after the Who actually perform in front of the absurdly huge audience that the Superbowl draws.
“The Who Super Bowl S-mashup” as it’s known, will be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace and Wii Shop for around 160 Microsoft space bucks, and 200 Wii Space bucks, and $2 USD for the PSN. All those rocking Playstation 3 copies of Rock Band will need to wait. No idea why, but Harmonix/MTV won’t be releasing it in a timely fashion. Still, it’s a cool idea nonetheless.

Tripod in Dungeons and Dragons – The Opera.

Dungeons & Dragons, D & D, that game you play with weird dice and books. Raise your hand if you know what that is. Keep your hand up if you’ve played it before, come on don’t be shy, you're among friends here. Ok, keep your hand up if you’ve sung a song about it, that’s more people than I was expecting. How about this, keep your hand up if you’ve written an entire opera about Dungeons & Dragons.
That’s right, no-one in their right minds would write an opera about D & D. Enter Tripod; three men who clearly have padded cells to go home to at the end of every day. .....Read more & Discuss here.....

eGames eGames eGames
The second day of eGames has come and gone, and it’s been pleasantly busy. Some of the big names like Sony, Nintendo and Activision were noticeably absent, but there was still a hub of activity around the floor.
There’s been games, main stage speeches, games, multiplayer tournaments, games, 50 metre long queues for Ubisoft posters, games, knights in shining armour, games and people flailing their limbs to Cindy Laupher songs. I am not making that last part up.
Meanwhile in the Level 3 booth, people have been coming in and out playing Street Fighter on the Dreamcast, having a shot at reviewing a game or simply sitting down watching old episodes of Level 3 playing on the screen.
If you’re reading this and you haven’t been to eGames, tomorrow is your last chance to come down and see all this for yourself. There’ll be games, there’ll be mingling and there will even be a special Level 3 eGames Podcast on the Main Stage.
If you do join in on the fun, be sure to come down to the Level 3 booth and say hi.

Leaked Modern Warfare 2 footage causes controversy
Spoiler warning: This article will mention moments from the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
In the wake of Left 4 Dead 2’s controversy, another game has been thrust in to the media spotlight. This time, it’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and lobbyists have been quick to call on its banning.
Footage was leaked earlier today which depicted one of the missions for the upcoming game, whereby the player controls a ‘terrorist’ as he and other terrorists proceed to shoot and kill civilians in a crowded airport. This footage has since been taken down from YouTube as well as other video outlets. (Edit: For the moment, the video is still up on News.com.au)
This caught the attention of Jane Roberts, president of the Australian Council on Children and the Media, who called on the Classification Board to reconsider the game's MA15+ rating and ban the game........Read More and Discuss here.....

Battle Arena Melbourne 2009
It was a scene that would have the normies scoffing. It was a lovely weekend - perfect weather for being outside and, I don’t know, frolicking in the meadows. Instead, 240 eager fighters spent their weekend inside a windowless room, a basement no less (a hotel basement, but still...), playing the video games in the inaugural Battle Arena Melbourne tournament, a weekend of fighting game tournaments organised by Couch Warriors. Click Here to Read the full article....
P.S. Also we wish to thank Loki from Couch Warriors for our all access Media Passes visit their site here http://www.couchwarriors.org/real/index.php for more on BAM and exciting stuff.

NFS Shift 360 Crash Accesses Playstation Store?
In quite possibly one of the more interesting and embarassing finds over the weekend, a blogger over at FreakBits found quite possibly one of the more crazy glitches to hit the recently released Need for Speed Shift. The blogger (known as enigmax) was playing the Xbox 360 version of the the game, it crashed on him. However, he noticed something quite perculiar with the screen upon the game crashing.
That's right folks, the game not only crashed out in a spectacular fashion with what appears to be showing a base menu for the current generation version of the game, but also thinking that it's accessing the Playstation Store. Wow. There isn't much else you can say on this one than just...wow.

Sony have developed a new technology that can forever increase the resolution of content. It can even dive down into content that was so small on the orginal picture and pull out new content from simply "Zooming" in and this includes video.

Only thing that annoys me is they couldnt do Bathurst as a track...that would've been the icing on the cake, but yeah.
Lets hope its a DLC Track.

Earthworm Jim Coming To PSN/WiiWare/XBLA
Sega had revealed over the weekend their intentions, or at least their ability, to put classic platformer Earthworm Jim onto the Xbox Live Arcade. Well, unfortunately, that poll they put up has ultimately been mooted - Interplay (via Kotaku) announced today that the game will be coming to not only XBLA, but also PSN and WiiWare as a downloadable title. |

EA files new trademarks for old IP's
EA files new trademarks for the likes of
-Populous
-Themepark
-Road Rash
-Wing Commander
So this could mean any number of things from EA just wanting to keep the titles in their possession to Re-Releases and Remakes for All!
Dtoid notes that
QUOTE |
Speaking with Kikizio recently, EA Bright Light studio boss Harvey Elliot recently talked about interesting and possibility of renewing old Bullfrog IP. He even specifically calls out Populous and Theme Park. |
So yeah, given the current economic climate, what better way to make some moolah than to revive some old dearly loved franchises to tug at people heart strings..
Not like others haven’t done it already

Lucasarts: The New EA
X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: A Comeback?
Kotaku reports that when asked about the possibility of XvT making a comeback:
QUOTE |
"We don't have any announcements now, but stay tuned," said Rodriguez. "We will soon….." |
Its not a confirmation by any means...
But new Space Simulator + Current Gen Consoles = OMGSPLOZION XD
Star Wars Fans have been clamouring for something like this since XWA came out, I for one know that if they update XvT.....Im buying it Day One regardless.
So, Lucasarts have stopped trying to create new properties and are working with what they know....All the Old Gold they've released before.
I don’t care that they are rehashing, they are bringing some of the Greatest Games back to life and doing them great justice, and introducing them to a whole new Generation.

Rumour is one thing...
but seriously...come on.
The PS3 Slim rumour will not die. Its coming hot off the heels of the PSP Go! debacle...and the more I hear it, the more I think its a matter of when not if.
Apparently, Kotaku uncovered documents from 7-11 in Japan (who as Joystiq note) are reputable games dealers there, to stop taking pre-orders for 80GB PS3 as of August 9 "at the behest of Sony"
Why would Sony want to cancel all pre-orders of this PS3 Model.....unless there was something new coming out.
Also:
QUOTE |
Sony has "ordered enough parts to make one million consoles in the third quarter of this year," which is twice as much as was ordered in the past three months. Are these parts being used to make Slims? PSP Gos? A weaponized mech suit for Kaz Hirai? |
So yeah. Sony suck at keeping secrets. its time they just announced it.

Halo: Reach, possibly the Last Bungie will make
Designer Lars Bakken from Bungie has stated in an interview that Halo3 ODST and then Halo: Reach will most likely be the last Halo game that Bungie will ever make on the 360.
Read into this as much as you like, but I think they have a long way to go yet with this IP. I just hope that Reach brings mind blowing GFX and does justice to the series and ties it off in a way that fans will say that was a good game but enough is enough.

WipEout HD: Fury DLC hits PSN July 23rd

On Thursday the 23 of July is when the Fury of the spine tingling anti gravity DLC pack “Fury” for WipEout HD hits the PSN.
The pack it’s self is actually bigger than the original PS3 game with 12 new tracks, 13 new ships, 6 new music tracks and 3 new game modes.
As announced at E3 this year the new game modes are track binding free roam modes called Eliminator, Detonator and Zone Battle.
I personally can’t wait :-)
I only hope they have fixed the online game engine from the glitchy lagging terd that it is now!
AS usual not sure on the au$ price but it’s us$9.99 so will most likely be around $15 au I’d say

Look out Apple
Microsoft stores coming this "Fall"
This is no surprise.
I remember seeing some mock-up Store pics from MS Headquaters and the explanation was something like "Oh this was just to see if we could do it/what it might look like" and that there were no plans to introduce them.
HAH
As if there were never plans to do it, after the Apple stores came out, it was only a matter of time before MS did the same.
With all the things they sell, Im really quite surprised its taken them this long to start up a store.

CoD MW2 Special Editions Revealed
Another year, another Call of Duty special edition. This time, for Modern Warfare 2, Activision have pulled out some major stops to deliver what is either one of the best special editions ever, or one of the most insane and useless special editions ever.
Like some other games, there will be two 'tiers' to MW2's Special Edition, the less expensive "Prestige" edition and the more expensive "Hardened" edition. The hardened edition contains some standard stuff - steelbook case, an art book and a sculpted head of Soap McTavish. Though you also get a token to download the original Call of Duty for either PSN or XBLA, which is actually kinda cool, and makes up for the more...standard features.

Fallout 3 PS3 DLC not avail. till September
Beth are still in testing
Which is fair enough, they have to test each individual DLC Pack, then in combonations with each other, then all together....and including the entire original game.
But fear not, as a consolation prize, you will be recieving Broken Steel first...then O:A and The Pitt probably at the same time, then PL and MSZ at a later stage.
Eh..If I owned a PS3...Id wait till October and trade my copy for a GOTY Edition.
So there you have it.
