PS3 out of Jail for good??? you decide
With all the excitement around the media about the ps3 being jailbroken, I though I'd let everyone know about the current state of affairs in Australia and other developments on this hot topic.
Firstly the Federal court in Australia on Friday ruled in favour of Sony that the import and supply of the PsJailBreakUSB device to the Australian public is illegal.
Next we have the cloning of the PsJailBreakUSB device and variants like the PSGroove which only enables homebrew not backup functionality but this has since been hacked to allow backups called PSJ.
Lastly there are now hackers working hard at the idea that any USB device that can emulate a USB Hub like a Smart phone or even a Homebrew flashed Sony PSP that has been hacked to give USB hardware root access to such devices could also run PSJ or PSGroove code to hack the ps3. One such device that already works with this hack is the Nokia N900. Hackers are also working on the concept that this may work on the PSP or an Android phone .

Playstation Update - 02/09/10; Front Mission 3. 'Nuff Said
The last few weeks on PSN haven’t exactly been stellar, but this one is easily the best for a long time - how so? How about a demo for Vanquish, the final episode of Sam & Max - The Devils Playhouse, Valkyria Chronicles II, and two true PS1 classics in the form of Front Mission 3 and Tomb Radier...well, the former more than the latter anyway.
Only downside? No Castle Crashers this week. But hey, we’ve waited this long, so we can wait just a little longer. So while you’re counting down the days until that gets released, check out the complete list of all Australian Playstation Store content for this week -->.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 12/08/10; Level 3 vs the World
Are you ready to take on the world for love? Because Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game hits PSN today! And it’s really bloody fun - mixing in fantastic visuals and soundtrack with a kick arse brawler game, even if no online co-op kinda sucks. It’s available exclusively on the PSN at the moment, at least until the Summer of Arcade is over, so check it out! And there’s also a trial, so there’s no excuse.
From one niche to another, we have the PSP remake of the original Persona game, to a demo for Mafia II, to more Dragon Age and Red Dead Redemption DLC, with even some Yakuza DLC to boot. So while you’re off stocking up on PSN money to get all this rad stuff, here’s a list of all the content on the Australian Playstation Store for this week -->.....Read More and Discuss Here....

NBA Jam Finally Made Official For PSN/XBLA; Though Not The Way You'd Like
And one of the absolute worst kept secrets in modern day gaming is finally made official - the NBA Jam remake is coming out onto the PSN & XBLA. EA (via ESPN), confirmed not only the release of the game onto the other consoles, but also the method of how you'll be getting it. You see, in order to get the game, you'll need to purchase a copy of NBA Elite 11 (formerly known as NBA Live 11), wherein you'll get a one use code to download the game. This'll be the ONLY way to get the game on the 360/PS3, as EA have no plans to sell the game otherwise.
As great as this is, there are a few caveats. The digital version of the game will actually be a scaled back version of the Wii game. The 360/PS3 version will feature only three game modes - a quick play, a single player campaign akin to the older game and online play (for up to 4-players); omitting the completely new Remix Mode (i.e. the new mode which involves boss battles and other neat little things). Of course, this might not mean much to most people, but hey, there are plenty of people who'll bitch about not having "the complete game".
Speaking on the decision is Jordan Edelstein, EA's VP of marketing: "We feel like 'NBA Elite 11' is a great product and we want people to give it a chance and see all the changes we're making. So as a way to say thanks to these people, we are going to let them experience 'Jam'. It's not the full product, but it's a good portion of it." This also continues the trend of EA bundling additional games in with their newer products, albeit unlike Medal of Honor or Dead Space 2, it'll not be exclusive to the PS3......Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 29/07/10; The Great Escape
It definitely seems like the PSN has been holding out the past few weeks, because we actually get some quality software this week! Aside from a Madden 11 Demo, there’s Earthworm Jim HD for you to get (or try out!). It’s also your last week to get a hold of any of the awesome fighting/brawler deals going on - so get at it.
Though the best thing this week? Rayman 2 - The Great Escape as a PS1 Classic. It’s one of the best platformers ever made, and if you haven’t experienced it, you have no excuse now. So while you’re off pondering just how Rayman can work without limbs, here’s a list of all the content on the Australian Playstation Store -->.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Six New Characters Announced For Marvel Vs Capcom 3
Coming up to Comic-Con, you'd expect there to be some form of an announcement regarding Marvel vs Capcom 3, and you'd be right, with the announcement of SIX characters. Well, originally four - but we'll get to that in a moment. Our friends at THQ (distributors of the game down here), let us know that Chun-Li (from Street Fighter) and Trish (from Devil May Cry) will be representing Capcom, while Fantastic Four villains Super Skrull and Dr Doom will be repping Marvel.
That was all well and good, but then came the news that Marvel had kinda jumped the gun and announced two MORE characters. From Capcom's side we have Amateratsu from Okami (HELL YES) and Thor from Marvel (as to be expected, still HELL YES)......Read More and Discuss Here....

Microsoft Unveil Official Kinect Pricing; And you thought Move wasn't cheap...
After much speculation, half confirmation from Microsoft's webstore and plenty of no-commenting by reps, we now have some official details on pricing for Kinect (or Kinect for Xbox 360, if you must). If you're looking at picking one of these babies up at the end of the year, it'll be setting you back a cool $199. Let that sink in for a moment.
For that price, you'll be picking up the Kinect unit, as well as mini-game compilation Kinect Adventures. You know - the one where it was demonstrated at E3 with people standing up in a raft? Microsoft promise 14 launch titles to hit down here, so chances are if that's not your thing, there should be something for you to enjoy......Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 22/07/10; Take To The Streets, Fighters on Sale!
It’s another Dog Day for the Playstation Network, as there really isn’t much to recommend, or new for that matter...well, aside from Sam & Max, but that’s to be expected! The big thing this week is a demo for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, which’ll finally allow you to get a glimpse of the insane visual style IO Interactive cooked up for it. What’s more interesting is that down here, you WON’T need to be a Playstation Plus subscriber. Neato.
Though the special offers are in the fighting mood, as thanks to the release of the Karate Kid on Blu-Ray, several fighters (and brawlers) are on sale! Rumour: Namco/Capcom Crossover to be announced, both companies to create own game.
Normally, I'm against posting rumours, but this one is too damned crazy to not provoke any discussion. To catch you up, Capcom are set to announce a new game this weekend as part of the San Diego Comic Con. Game Informer have posted up a story suggesting that thanks a series of events (notably, images on Street Fighter Producer Yoshinori Ono's Twitter and an EVO appearance by both Ono and Tekken head honcho Katushiro Harada) that the game Capcom will be announcing? It'll be a crossover fighter between Capcom and Namco.
Now here's where shit really gets crazy. According to GI's "sources", both Namco and Capcom will be developing their versions of a "Capcom vs Namco". Capcom's version is expected to be headed up by Ono and run on the Street Fighter IV engine, while Namco's is expected to be headed up by Harada and run on the Tekken 6 engine. If it's any indication, Ono mentioned that he'd want the game in time for EVO 2011, or whatever the hell he's working on next.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Last Window (Hotel Dusk Sequel) Gets English Release
If you're a DS owner, you more than likely would have heard of Hotel Dusk - Room 215, which was one of the more unique adventure titles out there, and one of the better games on the system. A sequel, known as Last Window, has been out in Japan for a little while now, with plenty of doubt if it'll ever be translated, let alone released - given how low selling Hotel Dusk was and its developer CiNG filing for bankruptcy. GTA: Vice City Re-Rated By ACB
Earlier today, we reported on how the German Classification Board had entries for a PS3 and 360 NBA Jam, adding further fuel to a fire we already knew about. So allow me to talk about something completely left field and kinda awesome. The Australian Classification Board has just been updated with an entry for, well, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Y'know - the 2002 title that many people hold in regard as the best (or one of the best) GTA games.
Of course, this could lead to a number of different things. But I'm sure many of you will believe it as being a downloadable re-release of the game, which no doubt would be quite rad......Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 01/07/10; It's Playstation as you know it, Plus
It’s kind of an iffy week on PSN this week. For starters, most of the downloadable stuff is the stuff you’ve come to expect - Rock Band/Guitar Hero DLC, LBP DLC, and with the launch of a new EA Sports game (Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11), a bunch of downloadable boosters. Honestly, the most interesting thing this week is Playstation Plus - the somewhat controversial subscription service for the Playstation Network.
In case you need additional convincing - you can get two of the best PS3 games when you sign up, Wipeout HD and Little Big Planet (when you subscribe for a year), all for free. Sure, it may be taken away from you once the sub expires, but hey, they’re great games otherwise. Beyond Good and Evil 2?; Apparently it is still being developed.
Has anyone else been wondering if anything would ever come of the teaser trailer for BG&E2 that was shown a couple of years ago? Well it looks like something might as creator Michael Ancel and a small team are currently working on it.
The reason behind the slow process and a small team is "to preserve creativity and so the game doesn't become a commercial product, so that it has soul." I like the way they are thinking about this.

You may as well rename your console to the Xbox E360 because you now have access to the most exciting games of E3. There's so much content that they had to put the E3 content in it's own tab! You practically have a trailer full of trailers showing off everything that's coming out in 2010 and beyond, whether it be games like Child Of Eden designed for the Kinect peripheral, sequels to the biggest games of this generation like Gears Of War 3 and even a preview for the XBLA titles of next month's Winter Of Arcade promotion.

Sony Release Stereoscopic 3D Bundle
With E3 starting up this week, what better time for Sony to start hyping the 3D capabilities of the PS3 than to release a bundle of downloadable 3D enabled games? For $49.95, you'll be able to pick up 3D-enabled versions of Pain, Wipeout HD, Super Stardust HD and a single-level demo of Motorstorm Pacific Rift. It's a pretty good deal, especially if you own a TV capable of doing the Stereoscopic 3D - and if there's any two games that you need to own from the Playstation Store, it's Wipeout HD and Super Stardust HD.
One thing that isn't terribly clear is how your pre-existing DLC (should you have any) will work. In the case of Wipeout, it doesn't come with the Fury expansion, so you'll need to purchase that seperately. Still, it's not a bad little bundle, and one wishes that Sony would release a non-3D version of the bundle. Discuss Here....

Sega To Release Dreamcast Games As DLC
They've been rumoured for god knows how long, but it's finally true - Kotaku are reporting that Sega will be releasing a pair of Dreamcast classics onto the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Which two games? Why Sonic Adventure & Crazy Taxi of course. Both games won't just be straight ports from their PC versions, they'll be updated with higher resolution visuals, online leaderboards (which should be fantastic for Crazy Taxi), achievement/trophy support and even surround sound.
Fantastic news no doubt, made even better by the fact that Sega plans to release even more of them by years end. So, what do you all want to see as part of this new program? Personally, I'd say Rez, but I kinda have that already. So I'll go with the other Dreamcast game that I've always wanted, Skies of Arcadia! Discuss Here....

Let's get dangerous, 'cause Joe Danger hits the PSN this week. If you ever needed a game that has the same vibe as something like Excitebike or Trials, Danger's your man. Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 06/06/2010
There's finally a break in retail releases, but the online marketplace is lively - Xbox LIVEly that is!
Ladies and gentlemen, your cheapest entry into the new world of 3D is here, and it's only gonna cost you $6.60. No need for special glasses, no need for a new TV, no need to even leave your house! Duke Nukem 3D is half price at 400 points this week. That's right! You can shoot pool balls with a shotgun and use a urinal in glorious 3D.
You can always bet on Duke, but you don't always have to put money down to get what you want! You can be the Guitar Hero for Guitar ZERO dollars because you can download some national anthems for nothing!... I don't care either, but the more important freebie is that you can be the DJ Freero for a limited time as Activision's giving you a sneak peek into a Lady Gaga mashup coming to DJ Hero 2.
There's plenty of cheap deals about, but I don't think anyone's gonna be saving their digital dollars. Think you're exempt? Not a chance! Read this list, get poor, and LOVE IT!.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Telltale Announce Jurassic Park Episodic Series
Now this is surprising news. Game Informer are reporting that Telltale Games, masters of high quality episodic content, are working on a brand new game series - this time, a Jurassic Park game. That's right - of all things, a game based on a book that turned into one of the most successful movies ever, with two not so great sequels. Though there's a great amount of games based on the films/books, so that helps - including an awesome locally developed park management game.
What interests me the most is just what on earth the game's gonna be. While Telltale are known for their fantastic point & click adventure games, I just can't see it working for this franchise. An action game would be more suited, but Telltale basically has no experience in that. Either way, the first game's meant to come out at the end of the year, and there IS always E3 to learn about it more... Discuss Here....

Yakuza 4 Confirmed For Western Release
Although it took a year to come out and was released in such a controversial manner, Sega's Yakuza 3 proved to be one of the best gaming experiences of the year so far. So you can imagine my delight to hear that Sega will releasing an English language version of the most recently released title, Yakuza 4. It'll be hitting the PS3 in Spring next year, so you've got plenty of time to catch up.
The big thing with Yakuza 4 is that it features four playable characters - with the most iconic character in the series, Kazuma Kiryu, the last to be played as. The three new characters add more than just different perspectives and personalities, but also different fighting styles, which is key in a game like this. Mortal Kombat: Rebirth
Watch this 7 minute video first
Watched it? Yeah...according to Kotaku that is a video of the reboot for Mortal Kombat Rebirth, you'll notice Jerry Ryan plays Sonya Blade, Micheal Jai White as Jax with Johnny Cage, Baraka, Reptile, Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero and Scorpion all mentioned by name.
Its looks as though they've taken the recent Marvel route and tried to base the movie in reality with Baraka being a failed plastic surgeon whose serial killer now, and Reptile born with a skin disease that gives him a reptillian look and frankly homicidal tendencies.
Shang Tsung is apparently behind these serial killers and is holding an Underground tournament for the worlds best fighters.........Read More and Discuss Here.........

Playstation Update - 03/06/10; It's Time To Get Odd
You know what there's a distinct lack of? Mini-Golf Video Games. Fortunately for that niche, there's a neat little title out this week called Planet Mini-Golf, from the developers/publishers of the excellent Zen Pinball. There's a demo out, so if you feel like indulging in a little niche gaming for free, why not? And in fine AU/EU PSN Store tradition, we get another Disney game! This time, in somewhat preparation for the new movie, it's the Toy Story 2 game! Unlike most of the other Disney games, this one's actually pretty decent, so I'd give it a whirl. Now let's hope Toy Story Racer is next - always kinda liked that one.
In more exciting PS1 to PSN news, Oddworld: Abes Exoddus finally hits our store, and that's pretty bloody awesome. So while I brush up on my Gamespeak, check out the list of this weeks content here -->.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 30/05/2010
This week's Deal Of The Week has been titled by Microsoft as "MOVIE MANIA!". You can pick a game that doesn't relate to a new movie. You can have a bad game based off a good movie. You can even have DLC for a game based off a bad movie! There's your options. So, watcha gonna do? Watcha gonna do when MOVIE MANIA takes some points from you?!
Activision felt that Modern Warfare 2 wasn't making enough money for them, so this week you've got another new map pack. The Resurgence Pack is finally gonna get Activision out of their crippling debt. Their money fights are no fun anymore since they can only use coins now, so please do what you can. Without your help, they'll have to rename a developer to "Finite Ward".
So there you have it. It's a slender week of content, but that's all going to change during E3. Hey, at least now you've got more time to watch Two And A Half Men!.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 27/05/10; Final Fantasy IX Is Here!
It's an interesting week on PSN this week. Mainly thanks to the interesting combination of Sam & Max, Final Fantasy IX, UFC 2010, Demi Lovato, Robin Hood, Pixelunk Shooter and Pantera being some of the more interesting downloads this week. Take a moment to reflect on that - it's quite possibly one of the more eclectic weeks for releases we're going to see for a while.
Honestly, I'm so jazzed about FFIX, nothing else out there this week on anything is as awesome as this. So while some of the more foolhardy owners of the other console get to brag about their 'awesome' Ben 10 game, all you more sensible people can brag about getting a true underrated classic. So while y'all are waiting for that to download, check out the list of this weeks content here -->.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 23/05/2010
If you haven't busted out Rock Band in a while, right now is a good time. You have ten tracks to choose from by Pantera and a demo of Green Day: Rock Band. Want more incentive? Go buy last week's Aerosmith DLC for Guitar Hero 5 and have a good rhythm game session.
Do you hate money? If you do then you'll love to put down about $100 to buy Call of Duty 4 on Games On Demand. That's right! Exactly $99.95. It actually makes the 1200 point map packs for Modern Warfare 2 look like a better deal!
If you like value for money however, you won't find it in Voodoo Dice or Doom II. Here is THE arcade game of the year! Get a rise out of Hex this week with Ben 10 Alien Force: The Rise of Hex! It costs 800 points but it's worth so much more, so it must be good!.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 20/05/10; aka the Go Play Red Dead Redemption Edition
So Red Dead Redemption came out a day earlier than expected, and surprisingly, that's a good thing for the Playstation Store. Why? Because unless you own a PSP, there aren't any games for you to purchase this week. Instead, we get demos! One for Modnation Racers and one for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. Guess it's good if you need convincing for either of them, but it's disappointing for me...since the new Sam & Max came out in the States!
Otherwise, there isn't much else, so the other cool thing coming this week is the long awaited Playstation Movie Store! So if you're ever bored and need a movie to watch, and wanna kill your bandwidth something serious, there's a viable option. Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 16/05/2010
This Friday night the digital desert of Red Dead Redemption is where the party's at. Level 3's Community Playdate kicks off at 8PM on Xbox LIVE, so you can "game on" with the "playmates" of Level 3 for one unforgettable night. The next morning you'll be so red you'll wish you were dead, but you can't do it without adding the gamertags of Catpain Billy, Assimilator69, KANEIT3000 & LEVEL 3 cRew !
If a guy whose last name is "Threepwood" doesn't annoy you, then you should buy The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. Since Monkey Island's secret is not so secret anymore they've decided to cut the price in half this week. But that's not all! If you've been dying for a cotton swab or a pirate hat, they're half price too! Sold? Well if Threepwood looks like an annoying typo to you, then you wouldn't buy it either.
"Aqua" is some game out now on Xbox LIVE Arcade. You know, the one that isn't Metal Slug so it will be ignored. The good thing about Aqua is: "It's digital, so no plastic - It's fantastic!".....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 13/05/10; Rocket Into It!
Hey you! Yeah, you! You remember Rocket Knight Adventures? It was that badass Mega Drive game where you took control of a possum in a knight's suit of armour, whom also had a jetpack, and fought off armies of pigs and robots, and played kinda similarily to Contra. God bless the 90's - you wouldn't see this kind of stuff anymore. What am I getting at? The game's remake, known simply as Rocket Knight, has hit the Playstation Network! And there's a trial too, so you can get a good feel for the game before you plonk down your $15.
Though if you're not into games like Rocket Knight, the other option is Catan. It's a recreation of the board game of the same name, and has taken it's sweet time getting down here. I don't know, I was never really into the whole "let's turn board games into video games" fad, much preferring the real thing. So while I'm off packing up this game of Monopoly that the other players have bailed on, check out the list of localized content.....Read More and Discuss Here....

If you forgot to buy it or had homophobia at the time you missed out on The Ballad Of Gay Tony for GTAIV. Wait no longer though, because this week it has a big gay 25% discount. That's super!
Remember EB's Bioshock 2 preorder bonus where you got two exclusive character models for multiplayer? Turns out that bonus was worth exactly $2.64 because 2K are releasing it this week for everybody. There goes that "exclusive", but when was the last time you used that DLC anyway? Make sure you queue up the Kill 'em Kindly content though; it's FREE!
This week is HUGE! With Guitar Hero 5 releases moving to Tuesday, Game Room finally being weekly and DLC for just about everything releasing in one big week there's too much for your hard drive to ingest, which is great!... unless this is a trick to make everyone upgrade their hard drives to the 250GB.....Read More and Discuss Here....

EA Sports Rob from the poor to make its self rich ?
News has stormed the internet today that EA Sports will now be shipping a multiplayer redeemable code insert with every new game that it distributes that has multiplayer features. What does this mean for you? Well nothing if you buy the game new except that you'll now have to enter in a pesky unlock code if you want to play the game online with your friends on XBL or PSN.
But what does this mean if you buy the game second hand or rent it? Well it means unless you willing to fork out $10us for a multiplayer code your out of luck. This is a fatal swing at Xbox 360 piracy and well is just insulting to ps3 users since that console is yet to be hacked. What worse is that it's targeting the less fortunate out of the online gaming market with many kids/parents who can't afford the full $100+ price tag of a new game to they purchase second hand games or simply rent game on the weekend from the video shop......Jump on our Forum and tell us What You Think Here....

Playstation Update - 06/05/10; It's A New Day!
What better way to stimulate players into using the Playstation Store on it's new day of Thursday than...well...the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package? If you're not up on it, basically - you get five additional maps; two are remakes of CoD4 maps "Crash" and "Overgrown", and it's for a more than expected price. I won't go into that here, because lets face it - if you're still playing Modern Warfare 2, you'll more than likely be getting it.
Another awesome option is the UFC 2010 Undisputed demo. Last year's demo was a huge revelation and really helped the profile of the game, and this years is no exception. Only disappointment is that it doesn't feature Rampage Jackson beating seven kinds of shit out of a door. Don't know what I'm on about? Check this out. While you're watching it, here's a list of all the local content, adapted from the European Playstation Blog.

If you haven't done so, reach for your copy of Halo 3: ODST and download your way into the Halo: Reach beta! It's got jetpacks, sprinting and what I can only assume are motocross riders shooting each other. Sounds good, but hurry up because it's not gonna run long!
For the first time the top LIVE activity for Games For Windows LIVE was made public, and it looks like slim pickin's in terms of activity. I mean, if your #19 and #20 games are Quantum of Solace and Section 8 then surely the amount of people playing those games must range from zero to one! Seems like there's a lack of "jumping in" on GFW LIVE compared to the 360.

Playstation Update - 30/04/10; The End of an Era!
It's a puzzling PSN update this week, because not only is it a relatively small update in a week of huge releases, but the big game for this week is none other than Puzzle Chronicles. It's developed by local puzzle masters Infinite Interactive, and offers quite a unique change of pace from their more recent efforts. Also helps that unlike their most recent efforts, it's actually somewhat decent. Whether it's worth the $13 is something you'll need to decide, so if you have the means to get a demo, I'd try before you buy.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Bungie Choose Activision As Their New Publisher; WHAT.
Get ready to spit out whatever liquid you're drinking, choke on whatever you're eating, or for your monocle to drop in shock, because we have some MAJOR news here on our hands. Namely, word has come out that Bungie, most well known for their work on the Halo games, has entered into a 10 year deal with a new publisher. What publisher you may ask? Activision.
Yes. You read that correctly. Activision and Bungie are teaming up. It's as shocking to me as I'm sure it is to you. Speaking on the deal from Bungie's end is its President, Harold Ryan: “We chose to partner with Activision on our next IP because of their global reach, multi-platform experience and marketing expertise. From working together over the past nine months on this agreement, it is clear that Activision supports our commitment to giving our fans the best possible gaming experiences.” The Activision quote is mostly the same thing, except with more "we're awesome!" Game Room is back! And one of the games has an exclamation mark on the end so it must be good. Hopefully this week's rollout will be much more stable than launch, and more importantly that the releases will go weekly.
The race between Blur and Split/Second has now started, with demos out now for both games. If you're thinking about either of these, now is decision making time.

Playstation Update - 23/04/10; The Climax In The Skies Edition
Are you ready to Climax? Because that's the feeling you'll get upon getting the biggest game of the week - Sega's After Burner Climax. While it does miss a little something from it's arcade version (READ: MOVING CHAIR), it's still quite a fun game, and worth the $15.95. With other high profile ports of Crazy Taxi & Sonic Adventure coming, it's set to be a good time for Sega downloadable games.
However, to get to the Climax, there's a new Firmware Update to download, FW 3.30. And continuing on the existing trend of PS3 Updates doing jack, this one adds the ability to sort Trophies and prepares the PS3 for 3D Support - doesn't enable 3D, but it lays down the groundwork. Really shouldn't be a mandatory update, but hey, that's Sony for you. While your PS3 is updating, you may as well check out what you'll be getting on the store this week, courtesy of the always awesome PSN Stores list.

Timeout For Street Fighter IV
It’s April 15th, 2010; and a very seminal night in Melbourne tonight. The Timeout arcade in Box Hill in Melbourne’s east has seen a lot of virtual fighting action over the years, from the early 90’s glory of Street Fighter II to the modern day beatings of Street Fighter IV and everything else inbetween. It was also one of the first places in Australia to have a Street Fighter IV cabinet, and with it, the first big steps to building one of the most competitive fighting game scenes in the country. With the console release of Super Street Fighter IV only a week away (and an arcade release not too long aftearwards); the denizens of Melbourne’s fighting game community hit up Timeout for what could possibly be one of the last SF4 tournaments. And it was one hell of a night......Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 18/04/2010
I'm giving away a redeem code for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory this week! All you have to do is post a comment in this article's thread on the Level 3 forum and you'll be in with a chance. Keep an eye on the thread to find out the winner on Friday afternoon.
But what exactly is this thing you're reading? EVERY Wednesday night you can hit Level3.org.au for your nice and neat look into this week's Xbox LIVE Marketplace releases, past and future. It even gets updated throughout the week if new stuff pops up. It's the only one of its kind... sort of.
Unfortunately there really isn't much on offer this week. There's some cool new Left 4 Dead content, but if you like either climaxes or chronic you might be into this week's Arcade releases. After Burner Climax is a port of the flying game from the arcades, minus the cool moving chair. A pretty good deal for 800 points. Puzzle Chronicles is like Puzzle Quest, except the name of the game and some other stuff is slightly different. What else can I say about Puzzle Chronicles? At least they didn't copy Puzzle Quest's 1200 point launch price!.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Playstation Update - 16/04/10; Max invades PS3.
There's a lot of great stuff to choose from this week. We begin with Sam & Max - The Devils Playground, kicking off with the first of five monthly episodes, The Penal Zone. What to expect? Lots of fantastic writing. Of course, if you're not into the slow paced nature of adventure games I'd miss it, but for everyone else? It's a must buy. For everyone else? There's Final Fight Double Impact, the repackaging of iconic brawler Final Fight and the lesser known RPG inspired Magic Sword. Does some cool things with presentation, and has some great remixed music.
There's a demo for Skate 3 out - which if you're still undecided whether or not the stuff EA have added to the game is worth upgrading, should tide you over until the game hits next month. And lastly we see the return of the PS1 classics, with the release of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. It's a fantastic and still very original game, and it's certainly worth your money. It'd also make a perfect PSP game, what with the ability to save anywhere you want. Sadly no GTA DLC, but hey, the disc is out now if you want to get it immediately.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 11/04/2010
Gears Of War 3 has officially been announced and the first trailer is out now on Xbox LIVE. Furthermore some details have been revealed. It's gonna have double barrelled shotguns, 4 Player Co-Op, mutating enemies and other cool stuff, but if you've always liked gravelly voices, chainsaw duels and fingers in ears I think you're already sold.
Hey now. download All Star. It's out for Rock Band. Go - PLAAAY! You can also get tracks by The Used, but they aren't really used. I mean the songs aren't new, but they're not preowned. It's new Used for Rock Band, and you can also buy Rock Band used for $35. Hopefully not coming soon is The Used: Rock Band.
For this week's Arcade release you're getting double the impact, but Final Fight: Double Impact oddly enough also has Magic Sword so you're also getting double the game. But does it make up for last week's lack of an XBLA release? Download the demo and find out!.....Read More and Discuss Here....

Ex-Infinity Ward Heads Form Respawn Games; Sign With EA
And now a new update on the Activision/Infinity Ward saga. Rather, a huge one actually. Kotaku is reporting that Vince Zampella and Jason West, the two co-founders of Infinity Ward, have formed a new development studio, known as Respawn Games. They've not a game to show off yet, but they're quite excited about the new venture, with Zampella going as far as saying that "the sky's the limit in what we can do".
It may also help that they've already got a major backer in the studio - a tiny little company by the name of Electronic Arts. Yes folks, all the rumours have turned out to be true. The one thing that EA seem to be doing that Zampella and West are really high on are the fact that they'll get to be controlling their IP's, as Zampella mentions that "We're excited for the ability to control every game that comes out based on this IP. We don't know what that's going to be yet. We haven't decided what the game's going to be yet, what the IP's going to be. But we think that's a good thing for us and our creative process.".....Read More and Discuss Here....

Xbox LIVE Marketplace Update Week Of 04/04/2010
The Inventory Blowout Sale continues... while stocks last? Microsoft expects to run out of digital stock on the 8th so take advantage of the discounts while you still can. You say you're saving your points for this week's Arcade game? You're saving for nothing, because there is NO new XBLA content coming this week. Instead, go buy Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 for half price and download the Blur open beta to pass the time.
Want more storage space? Did you just buy Track & Field on the cheap without any space to save it? Well bust out a 16GB USB drive or two because now you can finally use them on your console! Unlike a recent update on another console which had no benefits, this one actually does something. You can now save everything except for music and original Xbox games on a USB drive at least 1GB in size.
Before you read Xbox LIVE's dinner menu, prepare to facepalm over Fallout 3 for Games On Demand. Not only is it $99.95, but for some reason it's cheaper to buy if you use points. The 5520MSP price point actually equates to $91.08, so who knows what's goin' on! Let's just take a moment to realise how much of a rip-off it is..... MOMENT OVER. Here's this week's menu, sir. Playstation Update - 02/04/10; Good Friday!
Hello and welcome to Playstation Update for April 2nd 2010 - Good Friday! For starters, there's CONTENT! Lots of content. And sales! A hell of a lot of sales. Either way, it's all good.
Before we get into the Update proper, we need to talk about another Update. Namely the recently release 3.21 Firmware update for the PS3. This is the one that's killing all support for Linux due to Sony thinking that it'll stop piracy. You'll need to get it to go onto PSN, so it's probably worth your time...unless you're someone who actually actively uses Linux on their PS3.
I mean let's face it - the only real game on offer this week is the long awaited Namco Museum Essentials, another version of Namco Museum with the same games you've more than likely already bought in previous forms. Why? Because Namco like to forget that there was a decade called the 90's and that they also developed games that weren't Pac-Man, Xevious or Galaga. Best thing about is that there's a demo, and you'll also receive rewards for Playstation Home by doing some rather basic things. So that's kinda worth it. Kinda being the strong part. Though the good thing is the Sam & Max Pre-Order bonus is available for us now, so if you love point & click adventure titles - there's some high quality stuff there for you .....Read More and Discuss Here....
